The Hellenism of the Diaspora is an inexhaustible source of strength for Greece. They are the ambassadors of the Homeland across the world, the bearers of Orthodoxy and of our language, the living proof that the Nation cannot be confined within borders. And yet, the Greek state has historically treated them with indifference, with improvised moves, without strategy, and guided only by temporary political gain. The Democratic Patriotic Popular Movement “NIKI” declares clearly: this era must come to an end.
The Diaspora is not a decorative element for ceremonies and empty words. It is a national, cultural, and economic force. Instead of being harnessed, it was abandoned. Schools without teachers, communities without support, new generations losing their language and identity. The responsibility is heavy: successive governments of the post-1974 era left the Hellenism of the Diaspora to struggle alone, remembering them only when votes or fundraising were needed.
NIKI reverses this logic. Support for the Orthodox Church abroad, restructuring of Greek education with stable and permanent programs, networking of Greek scientists and professionals abroad with the Homeland, and the creation of institutional mechanisms that integrate the Diaspora into the national strategy. The Hellenism of the Diaspora must not remain a mere spectator; it must become an active participant in the shaping of national policy.
And national policy means a firm stance on our national issues. The Cyprus problem cannot be addressed with “solutions” that legitimize occupation. Greek-Turkish relations cannot be resolved through “dialogues” that negate our sovereign rights. Macedonia cannot be surrendered through signatures that offend our history. Northern Epirus cannot be forgotten merely to avoid displeasing Albania. This policy of appeasement is what has led the Nation to continuous concessions.
NIKI proposes a new course: a national strategy rooted in International Law, strengthening the country’s deterrent power, and mobilizing the Diaspora in every corner of the world to advocate for our rightful claims. We propose the creation of an international network of Greek media outlets to ensure objective information for global public opinion. We propose the establishment of a Ministry of the Hellenism Abroad with a Council of Diaspora Policy working in close cooperation with the State. We propose investment and research programs that will enable Greeks abroad to return or to invest in the Homeland.
The Hellenism of the Diaspora is a giant that has remained untapped for years. It is time to mobilize, honor, and integrate it into the struggle for the Homeland. Because only united, guided by Orthodoxy, History, and Truth, can we be worthy of our national duty.
Greece cannot endure more concessions—nor more lost opportunities. The time has come for the Hellenism of the Diaspora to become a protagonist in a new national renaissance, grounded in Faith, in History, and in the determination of our Nation to live free and with dignity.
