Competition and Productivity

The development of the agricultural sector is essential for sustainable economic growth and social cohesion. However, only 7% of Greek agricultural workers have formal training, compared to 50% in Europe. To address this, education and vocational training for farmers are being reinforced to improve productivity and competitiveness. Cooperation among farmers is also promoted, given Greece’s low rate of cooperative structures (20% vs. 40% in Europe).

Water management strategies, reforestation, and modern irrigation infrastructure are prioritized to prevent environmental degradation. Additionally, reducing dependence on subsidies (currently 20% of agricultural output vs. 12% in the EU) is a key goal. Investments in agricultural research and innovation are encouraged, along with policies to attract young farmers, as only 5.2% of Greek farmers are under 40 (compared to 31% in Europe).

Efforts include optimizing public agricultural land use, supporting traditional products (PDO & PGI), and enhancing livestock productivity through genetic improvements. Strict market controls aim to combat unfair competition in livestock feed and imports. Model agri-livestock units with energy self-sufficiency and technical support will be established across Greece to promote a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector.

The party advocates for a regulated free-market economy, rejecting both unregulated capitalism and excessive state control. It opposes financial exploitation by large corporations and stock market manipulation at the expense of small investors. Market fairness will be ensured through state oversight, particularly to prevent cartels from distorting prices and harming consumers.

Free-market principles will govern primary and secondary sectors, while public services (education, healthcare, national defense, emergency services, and tax administration) will remain under state control. Structural reforms will aim at reducing Greece’s debt, stabilizing its economy, and making it a financial hub akin to Switzerland for the region. Empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is a priority, as their growth is essential for national economic prosperity.

Tourism, a key pillar of the Greek economy, lacks a modern regulatory framework and strategic planning. The industry remains heavily seasonal, with just three regions (South Aegean, Crete, and Attica) generating 65% of national tourism revenue. To counter this, the party proposes extending the tourist season by targeting non-EU markets (e.g., China, Japan, the U.S., Canada, Australia), where demand exists beyond the peak summer months.

A shift toward smart tourism development is promoted, emphasizing local cultures, products, and regional uniqueness. A well-structured marketing strategy will replace excessive, often wasteful, advertising spending. The goal is to connect tourism with local communities, ensuring broader regional economic benefits.

Greece’s manufacturing sector has been in decline since the financial crisis and pandemic, leading to widespread deindustrialization, particularly in Epirus, Macedonia, and Thrace. High taxation, lack of liquidity, and rising interest rates have further strained businesses. Many firms relocated to neighboring Balkan countries due to Greece’s unfavorable business environment.

To reverse this, the party calls for lower taxes, the elimination of corporate tax prepayment, and special tax incentives for border-region industries. A strong push for utilizing Greece’s mineral resources (hydrocarbons, nickel-steel, bauxite, and rare earth elements) is also proposed, with potential benefits extending to heavy industry.

Investment in innovation and startups is emphasized, advocating for a national network of innovation hubs to retain Greek talent. The goal is to create a thriving business ecosystem where Greek entrepreneurs succeed domestically rather than abroad, ensuring long-term economic growth and industrial revitalization.

The party criticizes the current banking system for pushing towards a cashless economy, arguing it restricts financial freedom and benefits globalist interests. They oppose mandatory bank mediation in transactions and advocate for economic independence. They propose that in business bankruptcies, unpaid employees should have priority over banks. They also oppose home foreclosures for unpaid loans and demand oversight of the Bank of Greece and systemic banks.

Greek shipping controls over 20% of global commercial fleet capacity. The party supports measures to make the Greek flag the preferred choice for shipowners, including tax incentives and regulatory reforms. They propose revitalizing Greek shipyards, creating a national maritime bank, and providing subsidies for domestic ship repairs and construction. They also advocate for cheaper ferry tickets for island residents and social tourism programs for border areas.

The party promotes economic self-sufficiency under the slogan “Made in Hellas.” They argue for reviving heavy industry, metallurgy, and fertilizer production, reclaiming major cement industries, and reopening closed factories with state support. They emphasize reducing reliance on tourism and instead strengthening local production to create jobs and retain talent.

They propose simplifying tax regulations, eliminating advance taxation for businesses, and scrapping property taxes (ENFIA). They advocate for tax exemptions for large families, income tax-free thresholds, and stronger measures against tax evasion. Additionally, they call for penalties for public fund mismanagement and ensuring public buildings are not rented but state-owned.

They reject mainstream climate change narratives, viewing them as globalist propaganda. The party opposes excessive CO2 regulations and supports alternative energy policies that prioritize national interests.
